This Network provides a framework to explore and implement large-scale regional grassland conservation strategies. Conserving grassland habitats is a high priority for The Nature Conservancy, and lessons learned through this Network will further grassland conservation efforts in other regions of the U.S. as well as in other countries and continents.
Background
Key stakeholders in this region include private landowners, state agencies and the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service.
Livestock grazing is integral to our ability to restore landscapes throughout much of the Great Plains. In 2007 the Network will hope to co-host a regional meeting with the Patch-Burn Grazing (PBG) Working Group to share ideas and strategies and to further engage that group in the Network. We will also continue to provide a forum for Network members to share and receive feedback on implementation plans.
