We have two public listservs related to fire and conservation. The U.S. Fire Learning Network listserv provides opportunities for network participants to share information and best practices and receive announcements about network workshops. The Fire Management listserv covers all aspects of fire management including fire ecology, technical aspects of prescribed burning, training, safety, planning, operations and monitoring.

These listservs are housed on ConserveOnline, a "meeting place for the conservation community" and an online public library created and maintained by The Nature Conservancy in partnership with other conservation organizations. Users can simply view and contribute messages that are archived on the web (see "Accessing Discussion Groups" below) or they can opt to receive and contribute new postings via e-mail (see "Subscribing to Mailing Lists" below).

The Conservancy also maintains a private fire management listserv for staff. Contact Heather Montanye for more information.

Accessing Discussion Groups

1. Browse to http://groups.conserveonline.org.
2. If you are not already registered for the discussion groups, register as a new user. (Note: Login registration for the discussion groups is different from login registration for www.conserveonline.org.)
3. Log in within 24 hours after you receive your temporary password via e-mail.
4. Once you have logged in, click on the desired discussion group on the left side of the screen. Follow the instructions to post a new message or to read new and/or old messages.

Subscribing to the Mailing Lists (postings to the discussion group will be sent to and from your e-mail account)

1. After you receive your password via e-mail (see steps 1 and 2 above), log in to http://groups.conserveonline.org.
2. Click on "Subscribe to Mailing Lists", choose the desired mailing list, and click "Save".
